Dear Parents/Carers,

Year 6’s homework will be handed out on a Thursday and will need to be returned to school the following Wednesday.

Year 6

Every Week:

  • Reading daily (to an adult if necessary)
  • Spellings
  • Times Tables using Times Tables Rockstars
  • One piece of Maths (related to the topic covered in class or an arithmetic paper covering all areas of number and place value) and one piece of English (reading comprehension or Punctuation and Grammar) a week

Twice a Half Term:

Brain Builder Task

If your child has difficulty in completing their homework, please do speak to me directly in person or by telephone. If they are unsure of how to complete the homework or are struggling with the content, then please encourage them to speak to me directly before the day the homework is due so that I can provide extra support where needed. My aim is to foster a positive view of homework and ensure that the children understand the need for good routines prior to their move to secondary school next year where the quantity of homework that they will receive will be far greater.

Homework will be self-marked by pupils in class so that they can immediately see how they have done and can work through any errors or misconceptions that they might have had. This is then checked by an adult and any children who require further support will receive this.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs E Klinker
