Homework

Homework
Homework will be handed out on a Thursday and will be due back the following Wednesday. Each week, homework will consist of:
  • One piece of Maths OR English that should take about 20 minutes
  • Spellings to be learnt for a spelling test every Tuesday
  • Daily reading to an adult (This can be any reading material such as newspapers, diaries)
  • Brainbuilder one per half term
This weeks homework (24.9.20) is to secure understanding of number bonds to 20 and/or 100. It is not compulsory to do both activities however, the challenge is there if you feel up to it!!
In addition, there is a great game called Hit the Button  (see link below) that is a fun way to learn and secure knowledge and understanding of number bonds. The most important thing is to have fun with your learning!!
Please collect 50 small stones for a mosaic project we are planning. Kindly bring to school in a small bag with child's name before Friday 2nd October.
17.9.20
This week your homework is to try and recite as much of Macavity as possible ready to perform in class. If you're feeling ambitious you may want to include actions that support the lyrics. Remember to recite with conviction and expressions!!
Please note we want the children to be secure in the Y2 exception words before moving them on with their spelling. Your child will be given a set of 10 to learn (red, green or yellow group) but they are welcome to challenge themselves by learning words in other groups as well. They will have the opportunity to shine in the weekly test which will take place on Tuesday afternoons.
Next week (week commencing 14.9.20) we will be exploring 'Macavity the Mystery Cat' by T. S. Eliot. Research the words of the poem and see if you can find the first verse . Write it out in your very best handwriting and decorate with an illustration of Macavity, ideally wearing his mask! Homework is due in on Wednesday 16th September.
