English - This week the children will be writing Autumn reports (Science link) They will also be reading and discussing some Autumn poems and listing ideas for their own poems. Writing focus - Think, Say, Write, Read. Punctuation (capital letters, full stops & finger spaces), sounding out words & sentence structure.
Phonics & Handwriting - oa
Mathematics - 2D and 3D Shapes and pattern. Daily Maths meetings and calendar Maths.
Science - Weather
               This week Owl Class will be making a scarecrow for the community scarecrow trail

English - This week the children will be writing about when they were babies and about the things they can do now (topic link) They will also be writing labels and captions for class displays.

Speaking and listening - This week the children will be practising and performing their class assembly.
Mathematics - Solving addition and subtraction problems. Daily Maths meetings and calendar Maths.
Science - Seasonal changes and weather.
Topic - Class assembly 'All about me'. Owl class will be performing their class assembly to
                           Robin and Sparrow classes on Thursday morning.

English - Class text - Camille and te Sunflowers by Laurence Anholt. This week the children will be writing about events in the story, taking on character roles and writing letters. We will be focussing on sentence structure, punctuation & handwriting.

Mathematics - Addition and subtraction within 10. Daily Maths meetings and calendar Maths.
RE - Harvest Festival

English - Class texts - Camille and te Sunflowers by Laurence Anholt & Owl Babies by Martin Wadell. This week the children will be discussing texts, sequencing events and describing characters. We will be focusing on sentence structure, punctuation & handwriting.
Thursday is National Poetry Day. The children will be listening to and comparing different types of poems. They will be working together to write a class poem.

Topic - Class timeline - Past, Present, Future.
             In History the children will be learning about Vincent Van Gogh.

English - Class texts - Mrs Honeys Hat by Pam Adams & Camille and the Sunflowers, a story about Vincent Van Gogh by Laurence Anholt. This week the children will be writing sentences about story characters and settings.
Phonics & handwriting - ng  & th  
Class poem - The Owl and the Pussycat
Mathematics - Addition and subtraction within 10. Domino Maths including number bonds, addition, subtraction, doubles and halves. Daily Maths meetings and calendar Maths.
Science - Seasonal changes, plants (sunflowers) & trees 
Music - The children are learning new songs linked to their Topic work.

English - Class text - Mrs Honeys Hat by Pam Adams. This week the children will be sequencing events in the story by writing simple sentences about what happened each day.
Phonics & handwriting - sh, & ch     
Class poem - The Owl and the Pussycat
Mathematics - Representing numbers to 10+,number bonds, halves, doubles, one more/one less. Domino Maths (number bonds, halves & doubles) daily Maths meetings and calendar Maths.
Topic - Family trees. The children will be bringing home a family tree picture to complete at home. Children will be looking at their baby photos and discussing how they have changed and grown since they were born.
Science - Seasonal changes & plants (sunflowers)

English - Class texts - Oxford Reading Tree short stories. This week the children will be writing lists, labels and captions linked to ORT stories read in class.

Fun Phonics activities and handwriting (letter formation)
Mathematics - This week children will be representing numbers to 10+, learning about number bonds to 5,6,7,8,9 & 10 and finding one more/one less. Most Maths lessons are made practical, children are encouraged to use manipulatives to demonstrate and explain their findings.
The children also take part in daily Maths Meetings & calendar Maths.
Topic - Family trees. The children will be bringing home a family tree picture to complete at home.

During the first few days in Owl class the children will be exploring their new learning environment, settling into new classroom routines and learning our expectations.
Mathematics - Daily Maths meetings, numbers within 10 practical activities.
English - Class reading, fun phonics activities and handwriting (letter formation)
                    Our class topic this half term is 'All about me and my family'
Speaking and listening - Class discussions about holiday activities, families and friends. Listening to and discussing stories, poems and rhymes.
