Reading

We want to develop a life long love of reading. It is important that your child is reading on a daily basis and their reading record book is signed by a parent or family member.  Reading at home may include reading the school reading book, or sharing a book of your child's choice and commenting on the child's response to the text. This should be recorded in the reading record book.  Please keep us  informed of books your child is enjoying at home. It is also important that the children are thinking about what they read and are developing their understanding. It is useful to ask a couple of questions about the text they have read each day.

School Reading Books

Your child's reading book will be changed during the week. Please ensure that their book and reading record are in their folders daily.

We would ask that you remind your child to let an adult in school know when their book needs changing.

Further Reading

Please do read additional books from home or the school or public library with your child. A visit to the public library to collect books related to our learning in school is a wonderful trip on the way home!

Don't forget that after reading a book your child can be answering questions about the story thinking of main characters, main events, retelling it or coming up with alternative endings.

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to come and see us!

This is a fantastic resource to help further develop your child's handwriting at home. It can be accessed from both computers and tablets; it shows tutorials as well as allows the children to have a go to practise as well.
